High Tea at Burnt Orange

Located in the stylish suburb of Mosman, Burnt Orange is housed in a stunning sandstone mansion overlooking beautiful Sydney Harbour.

This Queenslander-style building was a former golf clubhouse in the 1930s, and today it offers a unique dining experience while sitting out on a large verandah among the trees.

Their High Tea is served on Avoca crockery and includes finger sandwiches and savoury tarts, homemade scones and jams, plus sweet treats and a tea or coffee (or a glass of bubbles if you feel like it).

I left the scones until last (by which point, I could only manage a couple of bites as I was so full), but the home-made jam was delicious! My favourite cake, in particular, was the green tea lamington; a classic Australian treat with a twist.

From making the initial booking over the phone to being seated and attended to during our visit, every staff member was polite and prompt.

Burnt Orange also offers popular breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea options. I am tempted to try a cheese and wine option next time! Once you’ve finished eating, they also have an eclectic retail store, which sells lots of cute trinkets. It’s one those stores you can go into without a specific gift in mind, but you’ll walk away with that perfect something.
