I’ve been living on Sydney’s North Shore in Lane Cove since February, and although cityhobo describes the vibe here as ‘lunch with nanna and the kids’, I personally love it here. There’s plenty of scenery and parks, it’s close to the city, and it has a low-key village shopping centre so there are several eating places to choose from. Thus, Lane Cove is likely to make more than one appearance on Her Cup of Tea!

Yesterday I visited Fink Chocolate Cafe on Burns Bay Road for brunch after recently discovering that it exists, despite the fact I live only five minutes away. It’s a family business run by a couple who have a passion for good quality food and coffee. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and told to a pick a spot for table service.

There’s a large variety of breakfast and lunch options on the menu, in which I chose the Fink French Toast, served with chocolate sauce, maple syrup and strawberries. It looked amazing, but unfortunately, the taste wasn’t quite at the same standard. The chocolate sauce didn’t arrive (a silver lining on the calorie count) and the ‘toast’ was so undercooked on the inside that it may as well have been Fink French Bread!

On the flip side, Joe ordered the Eggs Benedict with bacon, and as a connoisseur of this dish,  he had extremely high praise for it. Additionally, the coffee was impressively smooth, and one of the best I’ve had in ages. While paying the bill, I also noticed the range of chocolates they have on display (which explains the name), and lots of (gluten-free) cakes on offer, so if I do return again, it may be to sample either of those!
