I’ve been feeling a little disconnected from Sydney recently due to lack of money and motivation to go and do things so Vivid was a great opportunity to jump back into the city and explore.
This annual winter festival transforms Sydney into a wonderland of ‘light art’ sculptures, innovative installations and grand-scale projections for all to enjoy – for free!
My evening started at The Rocks Vivid Night Markets where there are far too many food options to choose from. I loved the rustic winter vibe here and enjoyed some delicious Nutella crepes and mulled wine.
Next, we wandered over to the Opera House to view a 3D display of colour and light. A different pattern was projected onto the landmark every five seconds or so, and the lit up Harbour Bridge which created a spectacular view.
There are dozens of Vivid surprises around the City, but one that I loved was at Darling Harbour on Cockle Bay. The Aquatique Water Theatre bought a little Versailles magic to Sydney with 20-metre high jets, floating water screens, pyramid fountains and a goosebump soundtrack. A fantastic night that made me fall in love with Sydney all over again.
